In short
Attic reads the names and sizes of files on your Mac to show what takes up space. That information stays on your Mac and is never sent anywhere. Attic has no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no crash reporting.
This policy covers the Attic app and this website. Arlee, LLC is responsible for the data described here.
The app
- Attic scans folders and disks only on your Mac. File names, paths and sizes are never sent anywhere.
- To open faster next time, Attic keeps the results of recent scans (file names and sizes) in its caches folder on your Mac. They are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app or its caches removes them.
- Attic deletes only the files you collect and confirm, and it moves them to the Trash.
Activation (website version)
When you activate a license key, Attic sends the key, a SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware UUID (not the UUID itself) and your Mac's name to api.atticdisk.com, and the server notes the time. When you deactivate a Mac, Attic sends the key and the hash. This is how a key keeps count of the Macs it is on.
Updates (website version)
Attic uses Sparkle to ask api.atticdisk.com for the list of new releases. The request carries nothing about you beyond what any web request carries.
Mac App Store version
The version from the Mac App Store sends nothing to us. Apple handles the purchase under Apple's privacy policy; we don't receive your payment details.
Purchase
Payments are processed by Stripe: Link, by Stripe, is the merchant of record. Stripe receives your payment details and handles them under the Stripe privacy policy. Stripe passes us your email, country and payment identifiers so we can send and manage your license key. We keep your email and the payment identifiers. We never see your card details.
We use your email to send your license key, through our email provider Resend, and to answer you when you write to us. Mail to support@atticdisk.com reaches us through Cloudflare Email Routing. We don't send newsletters.
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts or fonts. The server doesn't keep access logs.
How long we keep data
License, activation and key-move records are kept as long as the license exists, including after a refund, so that a refunded key can't be activated again. Ask us and we will delete them. Backups of that database are kept for up to 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, including under the GDPR and the CCPA. Write to support@atticdisk.com. Deleting a license record turns that license off. We don't sell your personal data.
Children
Attic is not made for children. Beyond the activation, purchase and email data above, we collect no personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new date.
